A wonderful visit with the Pryors'

We had the best weekend, our wonderful friends Mandy and Aaron came for a weekend visit. We just hung out and played catch up. I just love spending time with them, and the kids just get along so well. Every time we get together, everyone picks up where they left off.

We swam, fished, hunted frogs, played in the sand, talked, and of course ATE!! Charlie made the yummiest barbecued chicken, grilled corn, salad and bake potatoes. Aaron brought his BIG daddy ice cream maker and we made some homemade ice cream to go with the blackberry cobbler.

Here's a few pictures I managed to get, you can imagine how difficult chasing around six little people can be!

Here's us swimming and having a light saber war.....
The smallest frog I've ever seen, Aaron found this one.....
A picture of the yummy chicken.....
And the pretty summer corn....

The boys out behind the house fishing....

There the best of pals....

the little kids playing in the sand....

Time to say goodbye, Evan is so precious, he was giving "cha-lee Mac" kisses....

It was hard to get a good one before they left, this was the best I had, Maybe Mandy has a better one??!! Notice Evan missing, he was not getting his picture taken!

Thank you Pryor's' for coming to our house for a lovely visit. We all had so much fun catching up. Check out Mandy's wonderful blog, she was the reason I started blogging!

Master bedroom tour

Kelly's Korner is hosting master bedrooms this week. I have enjoyed looking at all the different rooms each week. I'm so glad she did this.

I have spent a lot of time and effort into decorating this room, I think it's important to keep this a special place. So come on in and take a peek at our master suite....

Here's a view as you enter in from the bathroom. We have french doors with glass panes, I KNOW not very smart!!
Here's a view of the bed. Our bedding has came from all different places. I love to mix and match....

Here's the gas log fireplace, this was a must when we built....
Another view of the fireplace...

Here is the armoire that hides the TV, I could live without a TV, but Mr. Bryant could not!.....

Little sitting area, you can see my red walls. The color is Red Bay by Sherwin Williams. The gold color on the walls is Bossac Pear. I have been very happy with the colors we picked....

I love spending quiet time in here, where there are NO toys. I love jumping up in my bed and looking at magazine while Charlie watches TV.

Thanks for stopping on by!! Go and check out all the others.

Garage sale finds

I found some great finds this past weekend at some local garage sales. I know garage sales are a hit and miss, but you really can find some neat things. Sometimes you have to think outside the box, on what you can do with an item,or how you can paint it. It makes me feel so good, because you get some unusual things and hardly spend any money.

Here's some items I picked up this past weekend.

This rooster lamp goes perfect on my bakers rack in the kitchen, I love the details and the feathers on the shade....

This HEAVY thing to hold my firewood was a boring black color and with some spray paint I gave it a whole new fresh look. It was 3.00, It was a steal!.....

I'm not sure the dates of these pieces, but I'm thinking the 1950's. I love the unusual color of green that it is. I paid 4.00 for the creamer set and 5.00 for the little covered dish.....

Oh, and I love how this little antique table turned out. I snatched this up for 8.00. It was a dark brown color and I just spray painted the base and left the drawers the original color. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The old books sitting on top were a find also, 1.00 a piece. The table sits perfectly by my back door.

Let me know what items you find this weekend on your outings! Have a great day and try to keep cool.

Blackberry cobbler

My sweet hubby, who CAN cook, made a so yummy blackberry cobbler. We got some fresh picked blackberies at a local fruit stand, and made the easiest cobbler. Here's the recipe.........

* one box of Betty Crocker pie crust-I took a picture of the crust so you know which
one to use (it's the best)
*1/2 cup sugar
* 1/2 stick of butter
* 2 cups of blackberries, if you don't have fresh berries-you can use canned (Organ is the best)
DIRECTIONS
1. Make the pie crusts according to the back directions, it makes 2 crusts
2. put one crust on bottom of dish
3. mix the sugar with the blackberries
4. throw the sugared berries on top of bottom crust
5.cut up butter and put on top of berry mixture
6. put second crust on top of butter
7. put a little butter on top of crust
8. bake at 400 degrees till bubbly and golden brown

That's how easy, and I promise SO yummy, We served it with ice cream.

here's the pie crust......

Let me know if you try this out!!

Flea Market finds

I have been in the mood lately to go flea marketing, that's what I call it! I have been on the lookout for white plates, and have came across several. The thing I love most about flea markets is a lot of times it is so cheap. I hung the plates in an arrangement over my bed, I still want to add to it and make it fuller. I love the way it is turning out. My husband was like " Why are you hanging plates above our bed? Are you sure about this?" I assured him it was going to look good! Ha, MEN :)

I also have found several milk glass pieces, this little compote I filled with shells and put it on the nightstand, for a summer feel. You can't go wrong with milk glass.

And a milk glass bowl, not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it was 3.00!

And I found two white cake plate stands, FIVE DOLLARS a piece. I set one in my hearth room and added some red birds.
I plan on hitting some local garage sales in the morning. I will show my goodies off, if I find any!

laundry loads of FUN :

Kelly's Korner is hosting again..... the laundry and playrooms!!! Two of my least favorites in the house. 1. hate doing laundry and 2. not crazy about cleaning up the playroom.

Here's a few shots of the laundry.

just keeping it real, baskets with laundry....

I DO love my washer and dryer....

I got this vinyl on etsy, it makes it more fun in here

hooks where backpacks and coats hang....

Just a little peek in the boys playroom. It is pretty clean, just haven't done that much in here. I do like that it's upstairs kind of hidden. I just shut the door and act like it's clean.....

Notice little legs behind the tree? :)

We have so many stink'n video games it drives me insane.....

I do love to come up here and find them sitting in their little Pottery Barn chairs!

I know nothing that exciting! I hope I can find some other great ideas from the tour. Go check it out. I'm fixen to go get up in my bed and read a magazine. I love this time of the day, Ha, my kiddos are in bed.

It's Summer time

It's Summertime around here. The boys and I have been hanging out. Cole and Carson started Bible school Monday, so we've been busy with that. I started getting up at 6:15 in the morning and hitting the gym, I like to go first thing before everyone is up. If I wait to go later in the day I NEVER make it. So it's working for me, I would rather sleep don't get me wrong, but I want to be healthy and make time for me.

We have been playing outside as much as we can, as long as it's not to hot. If it's to hot then we are in the swimming hole!! I was trying to get some decent shots of Little Mac, but man, he's so quick. I do love his eyes in this one! Little stinker *sigh :)

He loves to be outside, We have to watch him or he eats the dirt, notice the dirt on his face!

Charlie and I have put lots of work into our little family garden, and it's finally paying off. We picked a few tomatoes, which made yummy BLT's and tons of cucumbers. I'm on the hunt for a pickle recipe.

Cole showing off his cucumber and eating a sweet pepper! That boy :)

We will have tons of squash, which we love us some fried squash and squash casserole

I love this picture of Charlie Mac peeking over his Daddy's shoulder......

Tonight Charlie's grilling up some steak for me,his parents are going to come eat and go swimming with us this evening. So I guess I better go and start helping. Have a great evening
